Apostles's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ,

His only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the

Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell,

the third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at
the right hand of God the Father
almighty, from thence He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.
Amen.

Symbolum Apostolicum

Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and of all that is, seen and unseen.

And in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,

Born of  the Father before all ages.
God of God, Light of Light,
true God of true God.
Begotten, not made,
of one substance with the Father.
By Whom all things were made.

Who for us men and for our salvation
 came down from heaven.

And He became flesh by the
 Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary and was made man.

 He was also crucified for us,

suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried.

And on the third day He rose again
according to the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead.
And of His kingdom there will be no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost,
the Lord and Giver of life,

Who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

Who together with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified;
and Who spoke through the Prophets.

And one, holy, Catholic,
and Apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
And I await the resurrection of the dead.
And the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Under Your Protection

We fly to thy protection,
O holy Mother of God.
Despise not our petitions
in our necessities,
but deliver us always
from all dangers
O glorious and blessed Virgin.

An ancient prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the “Sub Tuum Praesidium”, is the oldest known prayer to Our Lady asking her intercession, older than even the Hail Mary itself. The hymn has long been chanted in both the Western and Eastern Churches. But the antiquity of this prayer is attributed to discoveries of a 3rd Egyptian Papyrus, a small scrap of papyrus with brown ink, dated between the years 250 AD-280 AD.

Sub Tuum Præsidium

Sub tuum præsídium confúgimus,
sancta Dei Génetrix;
nostras deprecatiónes ne despícias
in necessitátibus;
sed a perículis cunctis
líbera nos semper,
Virgo gloriósa et benedícta.

The Magnificat

1. My soul doth magnify the Lord
;

2. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

3.  Because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid, for behold from
henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

4. For He that is mighty hath done great things to me, and Holy is His name.

5. And His mercy is from generation to generations, to them that fear Him,

6. He hath showed might in His arm:

He hath scattered the proud in the conceit  of their heart:

7. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.

8. He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent away empty.

9. He hath received Israel His servant, being mindful of his mercy.

10. As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Jesus.
